The s.s. Waipara 4 Captain Bascand, arrived pn Thursday afternoon from Westport anil Charleston, and left again for Hokitika yesterday morning. ' The p. s. Charles Edward, Capt. Palmer, from Nelson, via Wesbport and Hokitika, arrived, last evening at 9.35. She left Nelson on Tuesday, ran into Westport on "Wednesday, and. arrived at Hokitika yesterday morning. She left again in the evening, and came in here as above. She is announced to leave this evening for Westport and Nelson, and affords a fine opportunity for passengers who wish to oe present during the festivities i attendant opon the visit of H. It. H. the Duke of Edb&urgh. TJx 5 V-f- Bruce, Capt. Christian, from N/fion, via Westport and Hokitika, arrived .A 9 p.m, yesterday. She left Nelson on /Tuesday, evening at 6.30, arrived at Westport on Wednesday night, left next morning for Hokitika, landed six tons of cargo at Fox's, and arrived at Hokitika yesterday morning at daylight. She left again last evening at 6.30, and arrived here as above. She leaves for Nelson this evening at six o'clock, conveying passengers who wish to be present during the visit of 11.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh, and the race meeting. The p. a Yarra came up from Hokitika yesterday too late for the morning tide, but prossod in the evening. The s.B. Alhamhra- arrived off Hokitika , yesterday, and is expected here this morning, when she will be tendered and dispatched to Nelson, Southern Ports, and Melbourne. The schooner Crest of the Wave. Captain Frazer, from Dunedin, was towed in yesterday by the p.s. Dispatch. She left on the 24th March ; passed Cape Campbell the following Sunday, and from thence to her arrival in the roadstead, had a succession of westerly , winds. She anchored in the roadstead at 10 p.m. on Thursday, and was brought in yesterday morning. She brings a large cargo of general. merchandise and produce, and is consigned to Messrs D. Maclean 'and Co. The s.s. Murray, Captain M'GilKvary, from Nelson, via Westport and Hokitika, arrived on Thursday- forenoon. She left Nelson on Saturday, the 3rd inst, at 12.30 p.m. ; arrived, at Matuoka at 2 p.m. the same day ; took in a full cargo of produce for the West Coast, and left on Monday at 7a. in. Experienced fresh S.W. winds and head sea till passing Rock's Point. Thence went under easy steam to Westport,.and arrived there at 3 ajn. on.Friday. Crossed the bar at 3.30, and le^ at -6 p.m. Went under easy steam until arriving off Hokitika. at 6 a.m., and crossed the bar at 6.10 a.m., and left next morning, arriving here, as above, and leaving in the evening for Westport and Nelson. The s.s. Gothenburg. Captain Underwood, left Hpbaon's Bay at 4p.m. on the 25th ult.'; passed Port Phillip Heads at 7, CapeSchanck ftt 9, and Swan Island the following day at 9 p.m. ; experienced fine weathpr during the passage, and made the South-west Cape at 10 a.m. on the 30th ; anchored off the Bluff at 10 p.m. same day; next morning went alongside the wharf, and discharged cargo; sailed at 4 p.m., arrived off the Head at 2 a.ni., and entered Port Chalmers at daylight TO the Ist ; discharged 300 tons, of cargo, and sailed for Lyttelton at 4 p.m.." on the 2nd, arriving there at 10 a.m. on the 3rd ; loaded a largo cargo' of grain, and sailed at 5 p.m. pn- the sth ; arrived at Wellington at 7.30 a.m. on the 6th; discharged 60 tons of cargo, and sailed at 4 p.m. on the^same day; ar : rived at' Nelson at 5 a.m. on the 7th ; sailed for the West Coast at 6 p.m., ami arrived off Greymouth at 6 pm. on the Bth. The p.s. Persevere not beinghcre, proceeded to Hokitika, was tendered next morning's tide, and came on here, arriving at 9 a.m. yesterday. . She was tendered od the evening's tide by the p.s.
