(Dwyer) 1 1 Mr Kingham's b g Gamester (Kraaft) 2 2 Mr Spiller's Native ..0 0 Mr Kingham's Selim ... ..,0 0 The first heat of this race was a chapter of accidents. .Selim baulked at the first jump, and got rid of his rider in doing so, an example which was followed by Native, who thereby disappointed Gamester, and left the. race to Blink Bonny. In the second, Gamester struck the hurdles and rolled over, but little -Billy Kraaft was up and mounted again almost in a second, and followed in the mare's wake. A better bit of jockeyship was not displayed during the meeting than this remount. Blink Bonny, in the meanwhile, sailed away, though Gamester overhauled her considerably, and might have had a show, but baulked at the first hurdle on the second round, and the mare then won easily, fencing splendidly, and without an approach to a mistake. The Volunteer Race, of 15 soys. Halfmile heats. Mr M'Farlane's gr m Kate (Mr T. Eoclesfield) 3 1 1 Mr Arkell's gr g Paddy ... 1 2 2 Six* others also started.
