A CURIOUS WILL.

We can believe that there are individuals belonging to that fatally fascinating section of the sex who are well worth the sacrifice of L 50,00 0; but now that the age of chivalry is gone, are there any young men of the period, who. are capable of rising ibo the sublime height of such a surrender of hard cash ? Curiously enough the noble testator is far from being an enemy to the sex in general ; his wrath is restricted to widows. He even adds a clause to his will that should his aforesaid second son, thus solemnly prohibited from indulging in the luxury of wiping the widow's tears away, fail to marry a spinster within three years, then also he shall forfeit L 50.000. Thus under heavy penalties the young man is compelled to marry a maid— a fate that some of her Majesty's subjects face every day with heroic coolness. The name and address of this young man are ; but no, on second thoughts we think it better to keep them concealed. There are Belgravian mothers about, and a shower of spinsters — all pity and petticoats — might pour down upon him if his whereabouts were known. Conjecture is at fault in the attempt to discern the character of this odd young man. Does he detest virgins ? Has he what the Irish call a ' ' strong weakness" for widows ? Did the father foresee some " bright particular" relic who would be too much for him? As Artemus Ward asks, " why is this thus 1 or what is the cause of this thusness V
