PAROA ROAD BOARD,
The usual weekly meeting of this Board was held on Wednesday last, the 17th, instant, at the office, Paroa. Present— ri Messrs Stansell (in the chair), Colton, ajid O'Connor. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman, in the Treasurer's, absence, reported no alteration in the : balance at the bank. Moved by Mr Coxton, seconded by Mr O'Connor, and carried — " That the Engineer be instructed to inspect that portion of the road between the Arapld and Maori Gully, and report on the same at next meeting." Moved by Mr Stansbil, seconded by Mr O'Connor, and carried— " That the. tender of Messrs Leach and Tyler for assessors, for the aum of L 75, be, accepted." Moved by Mr Stansbil, seconded by Mr Colton, and carried— " That the Committee's report on the Paro^ Road be. adopted as read." Moved by Mr Stansell, seconded by Mr Colton, and carried— " That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Waste Lands Board, requesting them to take immediate steps to have all surveyed townships in the Paroa District proclaimed open for sale. " Moved by Mr Stansell, seconded by Mr O'Connor, and carried— "That the Secretary be instructed to write to the; Chairman of the County Council, requesting information as to where it is likely that the Board will receive any surplus revenue." Moved by Mr O'Connor, seconded by Mr Stansell, and carried—" That the.. Secretary be instructed to write to the Corporations of Hokitika and Greyraouth, inviting them to send delegates to Hokitika in conjunction with the various RoadBoards." The Board then went into Committee, to prepare a draft of bye-laws, and shortly after adjourned until Wednesday, the 24th mat., at the usual hour.
