Charles Warren v. Walter Morrison. — Claim for L2O for labcfr. Judgment for L3 l6s Bd, and costs. Hugh Grimes v. G. Smith and party. — Claim for L 4 8s 9d for labor done. Judgment for plaintiff for LI 3s 9d. William M'Connell v. J. M'NeilJ.— Claim for L 3, money lent. No appearance, case dismissed. CRIMINAL CASE. George Smith, on warrant from Hokitika, charged with deserting his wife, was demanded to the Magistrate's Court in Hokitika. He was admitted to bail, himself in L4O, and two sureties in L2O.
A New York M'oman who had lost one of her eleven sons, chaffered with the undertaker about the price of the, burial, saying, "Now, look here, sir ; you mustn't be too hard with me. 1 shall be a good customer ; I've-, got ton children more.."'
