COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTION.
Nomination for Greymouth. The nomination of candidates for the representation of the Borough in the County Council took place yesterday at noon, at the Court-house, before W, H. Revell, Esq., Returning Officer. The Returning Officer read the writ, and called upon qualified electors to nominate candidates. The following gentlemen were proposed: — j Mr E. Wickes, proposed by J. A, j Whall, and seconded by D. Magoffin. Mr W. H. Harrison, proposed by J. C. Moore, and seconded by G. W. Moss. Mr P. Comiskey, proposed by Mr R. De Costa, and seconded by J. J. Keogh. Mr H. H. Lahman, proposed by J. W. Parkinson, and seconded by D. Maclean. The Returning Officer called for a show of hands, which resulted as follows : — E. Wickes . . 16 W. H. Harrison . 30 P. Comiskey . . 3 H. H. Lahman . . . 25 The Returning Officer declared the show of hands to be in favor of Messrs Harrison and Lahman. Messrs Whall and Guinness demanded, a poll on behalf of Mr Wickes. The Returning Officer announced that the poll would take place on Thursday, the 10th inst., at the Court-house, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
