Per Persevere, for Hokitika : 20 tons coal, D Girdwood and Co.

The s.B. John Perm sailed on Sunday morning for Westport, Nelson, and the Manukau. The p.s. Perseyeie returned to port on Snnday morning from Hokitika, and will leave for the same place this morning with a pargo of coal. A Court of Inquiry was held on Saturday, by Mr Andrews, the Collector of Customs, into the stranding of the Clarendon, but on a /certificate from the Harbor-master and the other ' Bpryeyor, stating that no material damage had been done to the brig, the JMector dismissed the information. The schooner To, Captain Murdoch, from Melbourne, arriyed off the bar on Friday, and was brought to the wharf by the p.s. Dispatch on Sunday morning. The p.s. Charles Edward arrived in the river early on Saturday morning from Nelson and Westport. She left Nelson at 3 p.m. yesterday week, and encountered strong Westerly weather on the ran through ; fche Straits, which compelled her to put into Totaranui for shelter, where she lay in company with fine Etfzabetr, Mary Louisa and Rambler until the 25th, when she sailed at 2 p.m., and anchored off Bush End at 5 p.m. ; left again at 9 pni., arriving at Weßtport at 4 p.m. on Thursday, leaving again on Frjday eyening, and arriving here as above. She left here again on Saturday evening, bound for Westport and Nelson. The B.s Eangitotb arriyed in the roadstead during Friday night from Melbourne via fkitika, where she had lap for a few days, •ly on Saturday morning Bbje was tendered the p. 8. Dispatch, which landed her passenger* and cargo. The Kangitoto waited in

the roadstead for several hours for orders, as she had not landed the whole of her cargo for Hokitika, and during the day, in obed'ence to signals, she steamed away for Nelson. From her report we find that she left Sandrids;e pier on the 19th instant, at 3 p.m., and passttd through Port Phillip Heads at 4.45 p.m., and was abreast of Cipe Schank at 7.15 p.m. of the same day. On the 20th, at 8.30 a.m., was off Kemv'sGroup, and at noon was abreast of the Sisters. Made the coast of Kew Zealand at 2.20 i>- m - on * he 24t11 » six miles to the southward of Hokitika, and arrived in the loads tead at 3 p.m. of the same day . Reports having experienced strong west and south-westerly winds throughout the passage, which was made in 4 days 21 hours. She also reports the arrival of the company's steamship Tararua, at Sandridge, on the 19th, at 9 a. m.
