Did anybody ever hear a gushing young lady tell what she thought about anything extraordinary? Well, that's nothing to what they write. Of course she was writing &bout courtship. A shocking suicide was committed at Prahran, by a man named Walter Brown,' who has been living at Coventry street, Emerald Hall. Deceased was a tinsmith, and has recently been employed in and about Prahran, but seems to have got into difficulties, which led to the compulsory sale of his furniture. He left home in very low spirits in conseqiience of this occurrence, and was observed to be very much depressed during the whole day. Between fire and six o'clock he attempted to hang himself in some building attached to the Bush Inn, but was prevented by some persons about the place, who noticed his movements. He does not appear to have been carefully watched after this, for about six o'clock he found opportunity to inflict upon himself a mortal wound with his penknife. The blade was plunged into the abdomen, just below the pit of the stomach, and drawn upwards about three inches. The bowels were cut, and protruded from the wound, and the man presented a perfectly sickening appearance. Mr Llewellin was sent for, and remained with the unfortunate jjuicide until his death, which took place about an hour afterwards. He leaveß a wife aiid two children.
