The well-known actress Mdlle. St. Denis has poisoned herself in Melbourne. The Taylor scandal has assumed another phase. The lady who is supposed to be implicated in the affair has published in the papers a statutory declaration, in which she denies the charge brought against her. On the 27th ult. occurred one of the the most remarkable events in the history of Melbourne. On the same day there arrived, for the first time, a London mail from the east and from the west — via Panama and via Suez. The Panama mail was announced early in the morning. A few hours afterwards the Rangatira, with the South Australian mails, was reported as being off Glenelg. — Argus. Sydney, October 27. In the Legislative Assembly to-day, the new Ministry were anno\mced as follows : — ' Mr Robertson, Colonial Secretary; Mr Samuels, Treasurer; Mr Forster, Commissioner of Crown Lands ; Mr Sutherland, Commissioner of Public Works ; Mr Egan, Postmaster-General; Mr Josephson, Solicitor-General. The office of Attorney-General has not yet been filled. The Assembly adjourned to the Bth December. Mr M'Pherson has resigned his seat in the Assembly, and will leave for England by the next mail steamer. . The writs for the Ministerial elections have been issued. They will take place between the 9th and 25th of November. The Mignelite brings 5169 bags qf Chilian flour, and 1427 bags of wheat. Trade is still dull. Adelaide, October 27. The Legislative Assembly, after a t>ri»f sitting of ten minutes, adjourned till Friday, to allow Mr Fuller time to complete his arrangements. The annual agricultural show will..corae off on Friday. It is anticipated it will be the best show ever held in the colony. The ship City of Adelaide takes 660 tons of flour for the English market. The South Australian has brought a party of men to erect the Port Adelaide screw pile lighthouse. The corn market is firm. A parcel of 5000 bushels of Port MacDonnell wheat sold yesterday at sa. 6d., for shipment to England. Flour is quoted at i!l2 15s. to j£l3 10s. The news by the Panama mail is likely to strengthen the market,
