POST OFFICE SAVINGS' BANKS. | The Nap Zealand Gazette of March 25th , publishes the following regulations for tho banks as above newly established at Christchnrch, Lytteltou, Kajiapoi, Tima.ru, Akaroa, Hokitika, Greymouth, and Waimate ;- 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per j annum is given on sums lpss than L*JOO ; at ! the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on sums ; over L2OO ; and in tl>c same proportion f>r | any shorter time on every complete LI de- I posited, provided that no interest be allowed | on more than LSU). 2. Depositors in the Post Office Savings' Banks ljaye direct Government security for the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of the Post Olh'ce Banks, can continue his deposits at any other of such Banks, and can withdraw his money at that PostOffipe Bank which is most convenient to him, 4. The strictest secrecy is observed with respect to the names of depositors in Post Olfice Banks, and the amounts of their deposits. 5. Married women may deposit money in the Post Office Savings' Bank, and money so deposited will be repaid, to tiho depositor, unless her husband gives notice, in writing, of marriage, and claims payment of iihe 49" posits. 6. Money may be deppsited by oy pn be: half of minors. Depositors over seyen years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits until they have reached the age of seven. 7. Applications to the Chief Office in each Province on the business of Post Office Savings' Banks, and the replies sent thereto, are free from charge or nostage /COPIES of the "Grey Riveii Akgus" can be obtained from Mr G.
