The p. 8. Nelson, Captain Dillon, from Nelson, via Westport, arrived in the river early on Thursday morning. Yesterday she was compelled tn remain at her moorings, owing to the heavy surf running, but will leave on her return trip to-day. The p. 8. Jplm Perm, from Manukau, NelBon, and Westport, arrived off the bar yesterday morning, anil came to an anchor, as the " bar impassable" signal was hoisted at the station. She will come in on the morning's tide, and is announced to sail for the Manukau to-day. The Panama Company's s.s, Egmont, from Wellington, arrived Jn the roadstead early on Thursday morning, and was tendered on the tide by the p. 3. Dispatch, whiuh transhipped her passengers and cargo. She then steamed away for Hokitika, but she hail not been tendered there up tp our latest advices. The B.s. Tararua arrived at the Bluff from Melbonrno on Thursday. She is expected to make a rapid run round the ports, and is announced to leave here for Melbourne direct pn the 9th instant. The s.B. Gothenburg is expected here shortly for Nelson, and will probably be despatched for Melbourne direct on Monday. For the first time for a considerable period the Grey bar Avas impassable yesterday, pwing to the very heavy enrf which rolled home on tbe coast. Towards the evening the weather and sea moderated, awl as the surf is expected *4> fall during the night, the bar is expected to be in its usual admirable condition for work this morning.
