The p. s. Dispatch made a smart run to Brighton and back on Tuesday. She left at 6 a.m., enterjed Woodpecker Bay, landed cargo, and was back in port iv the afternoon. The Panama Company's s.s. Egmont left Wellington at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, for this port! She was expected to arrive during the ipght, and will be tendered this morning, when she wiU be despatched for Sydney direct. The S.S. Gothenburg, from Melbourne, is now making a good rnn round the ports, and is announced to leave here for Melbourne direct on Saturday. The 5..8. John Perm is now hourly expected from Nelson, and will be despatched shortly after arrival for the Manukau. The B.s. Waipara, Captain Bascand, returned pn Tuesday from a trip to Westport. On the run back she was unable to enter Charleston, but succeeded in landing her cargo -at Brighton. It is not intended that she should return to Hokitika this trip, but wjll sail to : day fpr Brighton, Charleston, and Westporti The p. s. Charles Edward, Captain Palmer, returned from Hokitika yesterday. In crossing that bar she grounded several times, both iv entering and leaving; but she crossed' the .Grey bar yesterday at first quarter ebb without the slightest difieulty, aud with plenty of water. Last evening ■he sailed again for Westport and Manukau.
