The s.s. Waipara returned to the port at 4 a.m. yesterday, after receiving a thorough pverhaulat Wellington, and conveying troops to Wanganui. She left that port on the 4th and reached West-port on the following day, where she remained some time. She touched at Charleston and Brighton on the way down. Yesterday afternoon she sailed again for Hokxtika; and will leave that port early for a trip to Bruce Bay, under contract w(th the. Government. The Panama Company's s.s. Tararua is expected here to-day, and will take passengers for Melbourne. The p. 8. Nelson arrived off the port on •Luesday morning, and came into the river on the tide. During the day she landed cargo and loaded up 40 tons of coal, with which she tiidk her departure fi»r kelson direct at 1 a.m. yesterday. The schooner. Sarah Barr.
