March 25th publishes the following regulations for the banks as above newly established at Christ:, church, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa, Hokitika, (greymouth, and Waimate ':-• 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given on sums less than L2OO j at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on sums over L 20 0; and in thfc same proportion for any shorter time on every complete LI deposited, provided that no interest be allowed on more than LSCO. • ■ •■ : > : ■ ;; 2. Depositors : in the Post Office Savings! Banks have direct Government security for. the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor hvany one of thePost, Office Banks can continue his deposits at any other, of such Banks, ahd.canwitndraw.his money at, that Post Office Bank which is most convenient to him. 4. The strictest secrecy is observed with respect to; the names of depositors in Post I Office Banks, and the amounts of their deposits.' • ;•■■;■• 5. Depositors ..over seven years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under l seveii' years of age cannot withdraw their deposits, until they have reached the age of Seven. _ 7. Applications to the Chief Office in each Province on the ' business of :Post. Office Savings' Banks, and the replies sent thereto, are free from jhafge or postage,
