The New Zealand Gazette of March 25tl publishes the following regulations for th< banks as above newly established at Christ church, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa Hokitika, Greymouth, and Waimate :- 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, pei annum is given on sums less than L2OO ; a1 the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on sum! over L 20 0; and in the same proportion foi auy shorter time on every complete LI de posited, provided that no interest be allowec on more than LSCO. 2. Depositors iv the Post Office Savings Banks have direct Government security fo; the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of the Post Offic< Banks can continue his deposits at any othei of such Banks, and can withdraw his money a that Post Office Bank whichis most con venien to him. 4. The strictest secrecy is observed witl respect to the. names of depositors in Pos Office Banks, and the amounts of their de posits. 5". ; Married women may deposit money ii the Post Office Savings' Bank, and money s< deposited will be repaid to the depositor iinless her husband gives notice, in writing of marriage, and claims payment of the de posits. G. Money may be deposited by or on be half of minors.
