AN IMPORTER'S COMPLAINT.
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus.) Sir — Having some goods in the schooner Northern Light, from Melbourne, I take the liberty to bring under your notice a circumstance which, if allowed to occur again, will materially damage the reputation of this port, and also may prove a great inconvenience to consignees. The vessel referred to has been now off the Coast for the last two days, waiting for the Lioness or Challenge to bring her in, although another tug has been immediately available, had she not been under this restriction, there is no doubt she would have been safely moored alongside the wharf, as the bar has not been in a better condition for towing for some time. I would strongly urge upon the commercial community to take steps to avoid a repetition of such an occurrence. The weather being so uncertain on this Coast that before tho next tide a vessel may be driven to sea, and not seen again for a week, to say nothing of the extra risk incurred, through vessels stranding, &c. This is a subject that requires but few remarks, as every consignee will agree with me that a monopoly of this sort should not be encouraged. I am, &c, One of the Aggrieved. May 6, 1868.
