POST OFFICE SAVINGS' BANKS.

Tlje Kmo Zealand Gazette of March 25th publishes the fpllowing regulations for the banks as alwve newly established at Christchurch, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa, Hokitika, Grey mouth, and Waimate :- 1. Interest "at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given pn sums less than L2OO ; at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on sums over L 20 0; and in tht, same proportion for any shorter time on every complete LI deposited, provided that no interest be -allowed on more than LSCO, 2. Depositors in the Post Office Savings' Banks have direct Government security for the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of tbe Post Office Banks can continue his deposits at any other of such Banks, and cau withdraw his money at that PcstOfficeßankwhichiamqstponyenicnt to him. 4. The strictest seprccy is observed with respect tp the names of depositors in Post Office Banks, and the amounts of their deposits. 5. jNlarried women may deposit mpney in the Pogt Office Savings' Bank, and money so deposited will bp repaid tp the depositor, unless her husband gives notice, in writing, of marriage, and claims payment of the deposits. 6. Money may be depositpd by or on bebalf of minors, Depositors over seven years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits until they have reached the age qf seven. 7. Applications to the Chief Office in each Province on the business of Post Office Savings' Banks, and the replies sent thereto, are free from charge «r postage.
