Produce Markets. last Australian, 4^d ; bark, Mimosa, ground and chopped, ~L9; tallow, best, at Petersburg, 43s ; N.S.W. sheep, 44s ; leather, Australian, sold at lOd per lb. The corn markets are slightly lower — wheat, 795. Oils — palm oil, best, sold at L4O ; linseed, L 34 10s ; rape, L 3 9; spot cocoa nut, Sydney, L 42 per ton ; cotton declined from |d to £d per lb. Sugar— General market firm. Wool Market. — The last sales showed slight decrease on former prices ; total bales catalogued, 199,535. Markets generally very quiet. Want of confidence generally prevails. Supply of foreign wool abundant. Colontal Government Securities. — N.S.W. Government, 5 per cent. 1866, January and July, L 10 0; ditto 5 per cent., 1871. t0 1836, L9B to LIOO ; closing prices— Ditto 5 per cent., 188S to 1595, L9B to L 99. Closing prices for New Zealand 6 per cent. LIOO to L 11 0; ditto 5 per cents, L9B to L 99. Queensland Government 6 per cents, January to July, LlO4 to LlO5. South Australian Government 6. per cents.. , 1878. and upwards, LllO to LI. 11- Victorian Government 6 per cents., April to October, LIOO to LlO2. The money market nominally quoted 10|d per cent. ; 5 per cent, advance owing to outflow of gold from Bank of England for the Continent.
