GREYMOUTH DISTRICT ROAD BOARD ELECTION.
Yesterday, at noon, the Returning Officer for the District, W. H. Revell, Esq., made the official declaration of the result of the polling in the election of members for the Greymouth Road Board. There were few persons present, and there appeared to be no interest taken in the proceedings. The following gentlemen were declared elected : — Mr Hugh Barnhill - - - 97 „ Win. Leach - - . 79 „J. A. Whall - - - 72 Ed. Wickes - - . 64 „E. B. Fox- - - - 64 Subjoined is a tabulated statement of the results of the voting 'for the various members at the district polling booths : —
It will be seen by the above statements that two members have been returned from the Saltwater District; one from Maori Gully, and two from the Government Township ; while the Maori Township is unrepresented at the Board. It was at one time thought that either, Mr Kennedy or Mr Kilgour would.have been returned ; but the result has been otherwise, although the two successful candidates furthest down on the list polled only four votes above Mr Kennedy and eight above Mr Kilgour.
