In recommending these rates of charges the Chamber assumes that $11 charges for pilotage shall be done away with at Hokitika and Greymonth, as being now provided for by the proposed imposts on shipping. The Chamber also recommends the attention of the County Government to the advisability of apportioning a certain part of the wharf for the purposes of landing and scoring coals, but that such place be a little further up the river than the Transit-shed, so as to cause as little inconvenience as possible to the general fcusingss. on the wharf. And it further i ecommends that special arrangements be made with th§ coal merchants for that purpose. The Chamber begs to draw the attention pf the Government to the benefit that would be likely to accrue were the wharf leased out. The whole of the above rates, charges, and suggestions, have had the careful and .deliberate consideration qf the Chamber, and as it includes amongst its members parties representing every interest in Westland, it may bg considered as having the assent of all. The meeting then adjourned.
