Nancarrow Hamilton Gilmer REPLY. Gentlemen — 1 am deeply sensible of the honor you have done me in requesting me to become a Candidate, and have pleasure in consenting to your wishes. Your obedient Servant, PATRICK COMISKEY. rpo THE ELECTORS OF THE "ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF WESTLAND." Gentlemen — At the request of several of the merchants of Greymouth, and the universal wish of the miners of the Arnold district, I had intended to have consented to become a Candidate for the representation of the Gold Fields in the County Council of Westland. I regret exceedingly that I cannot carry that intention into effect, in consequence of no polling place having been appointed at the Arnold. This neglect will result in scarcely a single vote from the Arnold district being recorded, owing to the expense and loss of time involved by the miners in travelling to Greymouth (a distance of twenty miles) over an infamous track. As this apparent neglect will disfranchise between 700 and 800 voters, I consider the election for the Gold Fields a perfect mockery. I have the honor to be, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, E. B. FOX. January 18, 1868. rpo JOHN HARRIS, ESQ. Dear Sir — We, the undersigned residents of Greymouth, do hereby request you to allow yourself to be nominated as one of the Members to represent Greymouth Township in the Westland County Council, and we ■ hereby agree to do our best endeavors to secure your return. Dated this 20th January, 1868. To Messrs Gilmer, Sheedy, Maxwell, and others. Gentlemen — I have much pleasure in acceding to your request, and should you. do me the honor of electing me, I will spare no pains or time to promote your interests, they being identical with my own. J. HARRIS. /"VREY MOUTH TRAMWAY. VT NOTICE. The Traffic is now opened for Goods and Passengers as heretofore. J r KILGOUR.
