The Governor of New South Wale* embarked on board the Geelong, on the. 24th ultimo. The road from Goyernment House to Circular-Quay was lined with; military and volunteers. The yach^ squadron accompanied the R..I^.S.S. Gee-> long down the harbor. A brigade off boats escorted the Governor to the^ steamer. The batteries and the wap steamers, the latter with the yards^ manned, fired a parting salute. A Melbourne man has purchased the; race horse Old England, at Sydney, forLIOOO, and shipped him on the same, evening by the Qity of MelbAM.rae. Mr Youngs contractor of Melbourne, has got the contract for the erection o£ the new Post Office, at Sydney. Large bush fires have occurred in South. Australia at Bull's Creek and Truro. Bundalier^ Boobpprowie, a.nd Canowiej runs have also suffered severely from fire. Twenty thousand sheep are reported tci have been destroyed. Mr W. H. Trimmer, of the Sturt, and Mr. Francis Grote^ of Fourth Creek, both old and well-known colonists in South. Australia, have committed suicide. At; the inquest on the body of the latter a, verdict of felo de se was returned.
