THE PRICE OF PROVISIONS AT THE GREY.
' (To the Editor of the Grey River Argus. ) Sik — Being an old hand on the West Coast, and taking an interest in the people of the Grey, and as an old friend, I wish to let yoxi know the sentiments of the diggers concerning the dear prices of things at the Grey. I have been at many diggings in this district of late, and it is the same complaints, go where I will, that your stores, draperies, and drinks are much dearer than at any other place on the Coast. -Yon must remember that the. diggings are not the same now as they were two or three years ago", and the diggers in general are not so flush of money now-a-day. We think it rather hard to stand the rub of you. all. We wish to live and let live, and if your prices of goods? and drinks are not more reasonable, we intend to spend our money where we can enj^y it. It is our wish to patronise you aIL but we feel that we should not be jj^nng ourselves justice in spending our money with you when we can go to HoMcika — as we intend to do this Christm« — and enjoy ourselves and chewoer than at the Grey.
