A Special- Meeting of the Justices of the Peace will be held at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Greymouth, on Monday, 11th November, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, for the purpose oMiearing and determining Applications for Slaughtering Licenses in the Greymouth District. Any person desirous of obtaining a Slaughtering License must, onsfbr before 12 o'clock of Friday/the Ist November, give a -notice, in writing, to the Clerk of theßench^ Greymouth, of his intention to apply for such license, with a full description of the house or place intended to be licensed. By virtue of the Provisions of the Weights and Measures Ordinance, 1846, and the Weights and Measures Ordinance Amendment Act, 1861, Notice is hereby given that all weights and all measures, for the purpose of sale or any other commercial transaction, excepting glass vessels, earthenware vessels, and casks, must be forthwith taken to the Weights and Measures Office, Mawhera Quay, Greymouth, and there tested and stamped. And after the second day of November next, any person who shall use for purposes of trade or commerce, or who shall have in his or her possession any weights or measures, which shall not have been tested and stamped, will be liable to the penalties imposed by the Ordinance. v JAS.
