With respect to the ruruored resignation by- Mr Moorhouse of his seat as Member for Westlaud in the House of Representatives, we begin to think that the " wish has been father to the thought." No definite accounts are yet to hand, but we find the following modest statement on the subject in yesterday's "W. C. Times" :— " We understand that the announcement that Mr Moorhouse had' resigned his seat as member for Westland was at . ' least premature. Mr Moorhouse has, only gone to the extent of intimating his wish to adopt this course if advised by his friends that it is desired he should do so." Who his f i iends are now it is hard to say, but as old friends of his we tender our advice that, after recent events, it is his duty to resign ;and we hope soon to have the official anr.ouucement of that wished-for event before us.'
