In bread stuffs, we note sales of Victorian flour at Lll £>s, for shipment, and up to Lll 10s for local trade purposes. Small lots qf wh-sftt have bpen placed at 4s 94 and 4s 10il. Victorian feeding barley has been sold at 2s Gd. Maize is Ijrmer, quota r tions of 3s Id to 3s 2il being more rtiidily obtained. There is little doing in Patra rice, owing to the stiffness of holders. In r quiries for parcels are freqnent, but the price demanded as yet prevents business. A fe\y small lot 3 liavc been quitted at L 27. The Java rice per Carl and Vyf Vrienden will be offered for public sale to-moirow. Malt is beginning to be more looked after. A bin qf about 2000 bushels, in sacks, was placed at 3s 9il —a slight improvement. Salt has met with some inquiry, though, inconsequence of the rates demanded by importers, no sp.|e.3 have been effected, and buyers do not care to give over L 4 for coarse and L 4 10s for line— the prices ruling for some time p;ist. Sale.3 of hops haye also transpired at 2s 6d;. the market is very firm, aud influenced bylste advices, prices are likely to go higher. Telegrams have been received in town to the 11th of August, which report a rise in London to that date of GOs per cwb. In teas we hear Qf sales of the Tek Li's cargo, equal to 200 chests, iv chests and halves, at prices rang: ing from Is 9d to 2s ,3d in bond j the Ing, which was telegraphed amongst the arrivals' to-day brings the third cargo of the season. In sugars, trade parcels of yellow crystals' have beeu quited at L 3 4; the cargo of the Stag, from Mauritius, being the nr3t of the now crop, will be offered for sale on.WedneSr day. The Frances Milly, likswise from Mauritius, is also amongst the arrivals to-d.ay. Liquids arc still in considerable request. Sales of MiUTian's bulk ale have been made a' L 8 ss. Tennent's bottled ale is scarce, and much wanted ; we quote 10s. Sales of the Imperial stout have hv.en made at 8s 9d. There is still a fair demand for geneva, though the larger purchasers have for- the present retired "from the market. We hear of some 1300 cases of V. H. & Co. having been placed in parcels at Ss. 3,d t to Bs. Gd. Whisky, in case, has baen disposed of to the extent of a thousand cases at up to 9s GJ.
