Dlwedin.— The Daily Times of the 3rd inst. reports as follows :— Since the receipt of the mails yia Panama there has been a slight change for the better. Transactions, though not individually lar^e, have been tolerably numerous, and the demand fqr supplies, both for the interior and i for the ports along the coast improving. In the markets there is no material phange to report, nor have prospects for any particular i staples noticeably altered. Breadstuff's have | been very quiet; and the sales of imported j particularly pniall. For teas of good de 5 scriptions, a maintained enquiry has been experienced, and some fair sized parcels changed ljands — prices firm. Boxes of good descriptkm teas arc scarce. Transactions in provisions have been small. There is but little new cure hams and bacon available, and qld stocks will not, in the face of expepted supplies, sell without difficulty. B,u£ter con? tinues plentiful, and can only be placed at a low figure. In building materials, the only item of interest is the sale of the Parisian's cargo of Oregon timber reported as placed in one line, but price withheld. The recent auction sale of sugars, ex Jessie -Kelly, of necessity stopped private operations to a great extent ; there have, however, been buyers fqr medium crystals, and full prices have been paid for some small parcels of these qualities. The market is again supplied by the unexpected arrival of the Oberlin with about 11,000 small bag?, In spirits, wines, and malt liquors, there has been no move ; and except a slight demand for ordinary sherries, these articles have scarcely ► been asked for.
