The three-masted schooner John Bullock cleared Port Phillip Heads on the 11th April with a light favorable breeze and fine weather* which lasted until the 14th, when she ex- | perienced a strong breeze with hard squalls and heavy sea. The weather moderated on the following day, and the land was sighted at 0 a.m. on the 22nd off Milford Sound. On I the 23rd sppkc the steamer William Miskin, out pf coajs, but could not render any assistance. Had light variable winda along the I coast, and arriyed off Hqkjtika on the afterI noon of the 27th ; signalled for orders, and I was instructed to proceed to Greymouth, and I was taken in tow by the p.s. Southland. Arrived oft' the bar on the evening of the 27th, and was towed in by the p.s. Dispatch lat 6 a .m. on the 30th. She brings a heavy cargo, whjch is now being landed in excellent condition. Thesuhoonei* Isabella arrivedfrom Hokitika yesterday morning, with a cargo of timber. She was towed tip as far as the Teremakau by the p.s. Yarra, and was there picked up and brought into port by the p.s. Persevere. The s.s. William Miskin entered the river yesterday morning, having been unsuccessful in gutting iv on the previous day. She has ' made an unu.sual}y long passage from Dunedin, owing to her detention along the coast through adverse gales and shoitness of fuel. She left Dunedin on the 10th April, but owing to bad weather did not reach the Bluff until'the 13th. Left again the following day with a strong S.W. gale ; rounded the Cape on the 15th, the gale continuing with increased violence. When near Milford Sound she had to run for shelter into a small cove near. Freshwater Bay, and lay there until the ISth, and at midnight made a fresh start, but owing to shortness of fuel had to proceed under canvas. Spoke the John Bullock orthe 23rd, and boarded her for the purpose of getting a siypply of coal. Not beiug able to I get any fuel, sail was a^ain set, aud she made ! her way on as best she could until the 25th, ! when, the weather having moderated, steam was.gqt up with the small stock of fuel re- ; maiuing, and 1-911 into Jji'u.ce Bay for firewood. Again put to sea, and arrived off Hokitika on the 2b"th. Thes.s. Halcyon left G.reynrmth at 5.30 p.m. pn Monday, a,nd arrived at Fox's at about S. Discharged passengers and cargo, and started a^ain for Pakihi at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, arriving at 5. Discharged and left again at S o'clock same morning, arriving at Fox's at 9. Left at 1.30 p.m., and arrived iv the river at 5.30 same evening, towing in the Dart. Had line weather and smooth seas all the time.
