' Peter M'Farlane. agaiust Whelan.— lnthis. case there was no appearance of either party. Stewart against Harrington.— This .was a ' charge 'for a violent assault committed so long ago as the 27th January last, at Saltwater Greek. The prisoner had absconded, and ouly been captured last week, at ITokitika. Inspector James applied for a remand, j on the ground that Mr Stewart was absent. : at the Buller, and probably more than a i( week must necessarily elapse before he could "'.'.. be summoned.
