ROAD TO MAORI GULLY.

(To the Editor of the Grey Jiiver Argus.^ Sin — In last Saturday's issue a miner signing himself " J.M.," accuses the peopleof Maori Gully of selfishness. What on earth either he or the people of the Saltwater have ■• to do with *Jie grant for the Maori Gully Road, or more properly speafeng the Arnold District Eoad, is beyond my., comprehension. Allow mo to inform him, that the sum placed , H on the Estimates and passed is for a specific- \VJ purpose, viz., L 3500 for a road from the | E : Arnold township to Maori Gully, and L2ooo> $ for repairs to the Arnold Road. To this .-•! purpose alone must, the money bo applied;. ' I It cannot bo diverted to any other purpose;! k?• now that we know a dhe'ctrbad is impracti-. . | ; cable ; and as well might we say for instance- i that the sum of L 12,000 voted for a gaoi Mv would be appropriated to a- governor's resi- | ' dencc as to apply any portion of tliisgrant^ 1 I; to the Saltwater roarl. .- | vi It is a matter which does net concern the | m people of that district neither directly or- I If indirectly.
