(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus.) Sir — At the period of your last issue there appears to have been a large stock of reporters in Greymouth, owing, as it would be supposed, to his Honor's visit to this place; but whoever the reporter may be that supplied you with the report of the proceedings of the public meeting, held for the purpose of nominating and electing a member for the Improvement Committee, in lien of Mr Whall, resigned, I beg to state that the report is not a truthful one, inasmuch as Mr Fisher was voted to the chair, and not a self-constituted chairniany as stated in your last issue. Sir, . as you did not publish the acknow-*, ledged report of that public meeting (perhaps through want of space),, you would greatly oblige if you woiii3p(illow the public to peruse the "same in your next issue. I have also been given to understand that certain members of the Improvement Committee kavc given expression ±Y§ifch regard to a de> termination they intend ; 'to carry into effect, namely, to oppose Mr Wm. Sampson in taking his scat amongst them. I would remind those gentlemen that his election i 3 as legitimate and legal as their own, and I hope thab no remarks will bo made concerning his trade or calling, he being an undertaker, but that they will treat him with respect, as one elected by the people.
