The business of the week has been nearly a blank. The races, combined with reallyfine weather, having tempted most of those engaged in tiade to indulge in a few days amusements. With the exception of coasting steamers, the only arrivals have been (to. day) the Mary Stewart, from Melbourne, and the Crest of the Wave from Dunedin, with the usual assorted cargoes. The latter vessel has on board some 1,200 bushels of oats ; sufficient to supply the immediate wants of the market in- an article, the supply of which had become low. The holidays having interfered with the usual auction sales, there are none of sufficient importance to report. Christcuuhch .—The" Lyttelton Times of the ISth reports as follows •— The grain market is 'extremely dull, probably owingto the inclemency of the weather. The prices of barley ranged from 4s to 4s 6"d per bushel. Oats were scarcely so firm as on the previous Saturday, and 2s 9d per bushel may be quoted as the highest price realised for the samples produced. Wheat remained at last week's quotation's of from 3s 3d. to 3s 6d per bushel; flour at,, from Lll to Ll2 per ton; sharps may he i; quoted at La per ton, \ •and bran at L 4. Bestgrass hay maintained its price of L 5 per ton. Wilson and Alpwt report : At the Market place Saleyards the attendance was large. The following business was transacted : 2S pigs brought, for small porkers, 8s to 12s each ; sows and fat pigs, 30s to 50s each ; wheat for fowls, 2s 9d to 3s per bushel ; flour, L 7:10: 10 to L 8 per ton j inferior|cheese, 3d to Sidperib; do bacon, heads; -hams, &c , 4d to 7d per lb ; potatoes, L3to L 4 per ton ; onions, L 9 per.. ton.
