Sis, — I v»-&3 certainly amused at the sagacity of our M.P.C. while acting as Chairman of the second meeting, particularly in putting the amendments and resolutions to the meeting. I did give that gentlemen credit- f'-r ab.ott- r acquaintance with Parliamentary practice, especially being an M.P.C. His duty was, i;i taking tho sense of the "House" on Mr Cohen's ar.iondtjient for adjournment, to have taken the "noes", as well as the "ayes" that amendment being decided with the "noes." Mr Fisher's amendment would come on, " ayes" and "noes" having to be taken, and if a majority of " ayes" declared for the amendment, Mr Wicke's original r molipn would be thrown out aud of course not require to be put; but instead of this, tho sagacious Chairman called for a show of hands in favor of the two amendments, together with tlie original motion, and from, the numbers of each, arrived at tho^ extraordinary delusion that Mr Fisher's amendment was carried. • , If oiir hon. member acted in error, — and, l hardly think so, from the knowledge he evinced in moving the " previous question" at an early part of the meeting, — then, I would humbly suggest that May's Parliamentary Practice" bo purchased and presented to him "for -his particular study, and for his future guidance.
