THE IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE V. MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT.
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argue.) Sir— l was surprised when I found that two gentlemen (Kissling and Kenrick) against the wish of -the inhabitants of the Grey, are determined to create the power of taxation before the Grovenunent pile the river, make a road; or purchase a bridge. Qn enquiry, I find these gentlemen are: not freeholders, and, therefore, would not be subject to -the -tax they would bring into existence. Air Kenruk; has brought forward a notice of motion before the Improvement Committee to petition the Government to grant us the liberty, of taxing ourselves.
