THIRD DAY-WEDNESDAY. The Greymouth Handicap, of 100 soys, open to all horses ; two miles and a quarter ; the second horse, to have his full' entrance money returned. Nominations, with only 2 soys, to be made on the night of general entry. The weights will be made and declared previous to 9 o'clock in the evening of the second day's racing, so as to allow the Stewards full opportunity of rating the merits of the horses by the previous two days' running. Acceptances, with 8 soys, must .be given to the Clerk o£the Coxirse previous to,ll o'clock the same evening. The Cobden Plate,. of 30 sovs, under th same conditions as the Trial Stakes ; but the winner of that race to carry 71bs penalty, and the second horse 31bs. The winner of the Local" Plate to carry 51bs penalty ; heats ; one mile and a quarter. Entrance, 3 soys. The Ladies' Purse, of — soys, (presented by the ladies of. Greymontli and Cobden) with a sweep of 5 soys each added ; open to all horses ; gentlemen riders ; welterweight for., age; one mile and a half. Each horse must qualify by being ridden, previous to the start, over'a hurdle in front of the Grand Stand.. Hurdle Handicap of 50.soys, with a sweep of 5 soys each added ; • the second horse to receive 10 soys from the stake. Nominations, with 2 soys entrance fee, to be made on the night of general entry. The weights will be made and declared on the second evening, as for the Greymouth Handicap ; acceptances, with the 5 soys sweep, also at same time as : for the Greymouth Handicap. Consolation- Stake of 25 soys, for all horses that have not won during the meeting ; handicap, one mile. 'Entrance, 2 soys. REGULATIONS. The rules of the Canterbury Jockey Club will be enforced, unless when otherwise specified. Entries and nominations to be made on Friday evening, March 15th, previous to nine o'clock, at Kilgour's Union Hotel. All entries and acceptances must be in writing, specifying a»e and description of horse, and colors of rider ; ar.d contain tte xrequisite money. All horses must be ridden in colors. In all or any disputes, the decision of the Stewards to be final. A qualification of 2 soys must be paid, by non-subscribers to that amount, except for the Packer's Purse.
