The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods cleared for home consumption ion Tuesday and Wednesday was as fol-. lows :— Tuesday, February 12, £229 14s; Wednesday, February 13, £225 13s 4d, Dg^EDiN— The Daily Times of the 4th jnstant reports as follows : — Throughout the week very little activity has Ibsen apparent in the import market, and the' transactions 'which have transpired scarcely furnish occasion for remark. Second houses have, however, been fairly occupied, principally for iip.-country requirements, and Iherejhas been a moderate amount of miscellaneous business doing. The cemmercial intelligence by the' Panama "mail haying been anticipatedi no change in values has thereby been occasioned; but from Melbourne advices to hand noticing improvement in several items. In consequence, some demand sprung up ; but the only important business was the changing hands of about 1000 boxes of candles at au advanced figure. In breadstuffs, there, is only a small trade doing for .'current wants at prices' nominally the same as last given. There is scarcely any South Australian flour' in the market, and of Chilian and Californian the stock is much reduced ; a parcel of new oats to hand realised 4s. Sugars are firm, and, as Australian advices are favorable to holders, may advance ; but as traders are at present well supplied, no operations of any importance are going on. There has been a fair enquiry for new teas chiefly for sending away. The town trade has not been correspondingly active, though some parcels have been placed at fully maintained rates. Malt liquors, both in bulk and glass are languid ; none .'but old brew balk ales are ou hand ; and in bottled, the stocks to hand and to arrive are so heavy as .to deter buyers at present rates. No large sales. of provisions or spirits arc reported, but values for the former are fnlly maintained. MELBOUJRSE-rpThe Melbourne ?•</«<? of the 4th instant reports :— In the import markets to-day but a limited amount of business has been transacted. In breadstuffs we note a firmer tone ; a parcel of 200G bushels Chilian wheat has changed hands at 43 9d, and for best town-made Adelaide flour, with which the market is barely supplied, we quote Ll3. For country branels Ll2 is required. As $* s u % au " ticipated, however, that a duty will be imposed on wheat and flour when the budget is submitted to the Assembly, holders are careless of selling to any extent, until the intentions of the. Government are deSnite'y ascertained, Maize is dull at 4s 3d to 4s 4d. Trade sales of malt are reported at 1 Is 3d to lls'CcL Provisions nieet with a fair clemandWe loami of a shipment of cheese, ex Ethiopian, having been placed at 13d. The quality is superior, JDKZ geneva is quitted at 10s f oi' trade purposes. A parcel of 1000 cases changed hands at a ooncession on the price named. A s l" mtt o n t' o f 500 eases of oysters was disposed of at about 93. Sugars continue to come forward yery freety. Amongst the arrivals to-day will be found three vessels from Mauritius, with full cargoes of that staple. : . .:
