The following paragraph from the; Ottigo Daily Times, of the 28fch January, may interest those; of our readers who were formerly denizens of the Wakatip district :— " A fine qake of amalgam, weighing 504 oz - | 10 dwt. has been sent down by Sonthberg's party, from the Lake; and it was shown on Saturday in the window of Mr Meyer, Princes street. The Union Bank is -the purchaser of - the gold; but no information as to the extent of the crushing which yielded this .nice lump has yet been received. There will ' be ■ a loss of from th'-ce to five per cent, iv ' retorting."
