Grey Riyeb Aiigus Office, Friday evening,' The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods cleared for- home consumption on Thursday and Friday was "as folr lows :— Thursday, February 7, 13.s 3d; Friday, February 8, £115 7s 6d. Business during the past has not been marked by rnqoh animation, and our last quotations, may be accepted for most articles of import. Potatoes and. onions having been sent on from Hokitika, the price has given ■way, the former having --been sold at LlO per ton, and the latter at Id to lid perlb., according to quality. The only arrival to note is the Storm King from Melbourne with a general cargo. The auotlon sales of the past week have been few. The Club. Hotel, on Mawhera Quay, was disposed of by Mr D. Maclean, for- L4OO, One or two other properties have changed handg privately at, we believe, fair values, whilst others that have been in the market are withdrawn for the present, the offers not having reached the re* serve placed on them by their owners. CiiuiSTCUUßcn,— The Press of the/ 4th inst. reports, as follows \ — During the week just close import business has not been over brisk, all goods sold being for trade requirements. A few articles are enquired. aftey, such as sardines, full-weight caudles, and Steele's soap. There has been little trade clone in. three*bushel bags, considering the season of the year, only a few bales having been quitted at 14s to 15s per doz. Bulk beers of the best brands are scarce, and inferior qualities are therefore entering largely into consumption. Malt, looking to the rise that has taken place iv England, has not advanced proportionately here, prices remaining at 10s 6d to 11s. In exports, the Blue Jacket and Talbot have sailed for London with cargoes valued at L 205 ,684. The harvest is occupying so much of the time of the farmers that little trade is being done. in grain. Wheat is nomiua 1 ; 3s 6d to 4s may be quoted as millers' prices for new. Several samples of oats are in the market, but no transactions of any magnitude have been done. Barley may be quoted at os to 5s 6d for best malting'; inferior not asked for. Brcadstuffs remain at late prices ; flour Ll2 to Ll4pcr ton, according to quantities taken ; bran L 5 15s ; sharps L 6 10s. Hay meets with a ready sale at L 4 10s to L 5, delivered in town. Saturday's market was very quiet, owing to farmers being busy with the harvest. Few cattle were yarded -heifers were quitted at LlO 15s, and good milch cows at Lls. A lot of young uii broken light __ saddle horses were disposed of by auction, at extremely low prices ; good horses, warranted staunch, are however in demand, and fetch fair prices. This being the day of the month on which trade bills are due,. it is to be hoped that it will pass over without difficulty, and that the soundness which has characterised our trade for the last six months may continue uninterrupted. ■'■■.-■ '•-.•"
