Dullness is its prevailing characteristic ; and there is an indisposition to purchase, except for immediate requirements. Even for those goods which are not overstocked there is the greatest difficulty in raising the price to a remunerative rate. Small sales only of tea are reported at Is 8 to Is 9d, in bond, for good medium congou; at aiiction, ohests were sold, all faults, at la 4Ad to Is 5Ad, duty paid ; and gunpowder and pekoe teas'brought 2s 4d to 2s 6d. Sugars are much more quiet . this week than last ; trade sales of fine brewing crystals are reported at 32s 6d, in bond. 253 casks Bass's triangle ale changed hands at a price not disclosed, but fully sustaining late rates; and a trade parcel of Machin's stout has been sold at 9s 3d ; at auction, 400 cases stout and ale sold at various prices ; old torn has been disposed of, also at auction, at 9s l^d per pase. A few sales of oilmen's stores have taken place both privately and at auction. .Privately, 10 tons sago changed hands at 24'd-per- lb ; ■\vhite pepper, at about B^dperlb; and carbonate of soda, at 35s per cwt ; lobsters have been sold at 7s. 9d. Ling' brought 4^d per lb, which is a reduction on; iate viites. Ox tongues fetched 23s per dozen. A large parcel of oil has changed hands— of linseed a considerable quantity, both: in drums and casks; we have not heard the price." r l here have been sales of colza to a considerable extent ; the latter, no doubt from its scarcity, has commanded full rates, but -the linseed lias-, most likely been a speculative purchase, tempted by; the' low prices ruling. Inferior tobacco brought, at auction, v3d to 7d. Flour has been without

animation, We quote best Adelaide flour worth Ll2 10s for old and Ll2 for new ; country bringing from LJI to LI 1 10s. WWat has commanded morp attention than flour, and sales are reported of about 8000 bushels of Californian, ex Torquil, at full I rates, for exportation. At auction a parcel of Californiau sold at 43 6d, as per bulk. Negotiations, have b§en going on for tlje purchase of the wheat per D, JJrundritt, from Chili, intended for the English market, Barley and oats are quiet. Considerable arrivals of ' both have ogcurred the last two days, and the market for horse corn is lpwcr, Maize docs not command over 4s 4d, and the only show of reason for the declension is the quantity of barley and oiits imported the last day or two. The arrivals f rom foreign ports to-day have been the Marnjora, from Mauritius, and the Tirzah, another longidated ship, from London.
