Grey River Ana us Office, • Friday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods cleared for home consumption on Thursday and Friday, was as follows: — Thursday, January 3, £86 '14s 2d ; Friday, January 4, £117 10s 2d. Dunedix— We have Dunedin papers to the 28th ult., the following from the Daily Times of the 24th is the latest commercial report :— Business during the past week, though interfered with by the arrival .and departure of the English mails, and hy bad weather, has, notwithstanding these- drawbacks, been tolerably active ; the transactions of importers not being so large as numerous, but second houses being well occupied in the execution of miscellaneous orders for country and coastwise requirements. The flour market has been a trine more active, but the demand is for local wants only ; prices without alteration. Sales of some considerable parcels of geneva are reported, the only exception to the quietness which in spirits has been observable. In malt liquors, business, both privately and by auction, has been done The current demand for stouts in bottle remains good, and shipments to arrive have been placed at prices nearly equal to the quotations for prompt delivery. Some parcels of bulk ales, of which the market is not over supplied, have also been sold at maintained rates. By auction, both these articles with the addition of • a considerable quantity of ales in bottle, have been placed, the brands of the goods placed by auction not being tbose most in favor, low prices had to be submitted to. Corn-sacks are enquired for, but holders refuse to sell at late prices, asking 16s. No sales at this price are yet reported. Malt is looking up. Some speculative purchases, made within the last few days, have placed the bulk of the stock in one or two hands, who will not sell except at advanced prices. Teas and sugars have been dealt in to a fair extent, there is no Alteration in the value or prospect of either article. Provisions are selling more readily, but the prices obtained have not been better, which is in some part caused liy the number of parcels, scarcely first-class, which have been and are now offering by auction. The news of- tho mail being at the Bluff caused a suspension of considerable operations during this day (Saturday) ; but the commercial intelligence, •even if favorable, will hardly lead to much activity during the coming, which is essentially a holiday week
