RIFLE PRIZES. V*-
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus. J Sir, —Having heard that the names of the supposed winners of the prizes fpffered at Hellier's Rifle Gallery is to b'a published in Argus to-morrow ; will yon be! fend enough to insert the following. The prizes offered to be shot for were open from Monday the24th to the 29th December; and up 'to. eleven o'clock on Friday night not one single shot had been fired for. either of the prizes. On Saturday evening I /collect in company with my friend, .Mir. .J.' "A. Magiiire, of Cobden — whom I have every reason to believe is the best shot in the Grey district, as during the last twicer thrw months he has not been able to finaltsmatob.. We were informed that the prize; shooting had' closed at two o'clock, and that one of the competitors had got no less than twenty-three successive bells for the first and fourth prizes, and to me it seems very strange that no person can be found who saw the\ prizes shot for on Saturday last. Now, sir, lam ready to bet L2O that none, of the supposed winners, nor ,ahy other man (who can be brought ■; forward^ within one week) will out of even eighijfß shots get one— twelve— successive bells. /*' \ I am, &c, . ( Cobden. Greymouth, 'January 2, 1867.
