The Aryu-i of that date reports as follows : — The import markets continue to evince a considerable amount of activity, and though few individual sales arc reported of an extensive character, the aggregate shows a large amount of n erehandise as having been turned over. In bread? tuffs, notwithstanding that there is little doing, tho market begins to assume a more settled tone. Chilian wheat is quoted, at 4s (sd, and California!) and Adelaide at fss to 5s 3d. CmusTCHURCH— The Press of the 17t a ins tant reports as follows : — During the week considerable activity has been manifested yin the import trade, and large sales of station stores and other requisites have been quitted, which have had the effect of lessening stocks, which are, however, very heavy. The Lyttelton from Boston, U S, brings a quantity of seasonable goods, which will meet with a fair market. Our already heavy stock of breadstuff's has been augmented by the arrival of the Camille from Tome, with a enrgo of Chilian wheat and flour. It is reported she will be ordered to some other port with a portion of her cargo ; at all events, her spirited owners ought to make the best of their venture. Seveial large sales of fanning stock and plenishing have been held during the week, at all of which full rates have been obtained. The cattle at Mr. Brittau's sale averaged 1/23, and at Mr I.) The flour .and grain markets continue depressed, few sales being elected ; qnotatioi s remain as before. Late shipments of flour to the West-land markets have been obliged to be quitted at a sacrifice, consignors scarcely realising LlO per ton clear. The hay crop is likely to be short, and holders of old will r.ot quit under L 5 per ton. Saturday's market -was well attended, and more than the average amount of business transacted.
