Laxd Sam» ix Wellington.— The townships of Foxton and Palmerston were offered for sale last week by the Provincial Government, in town, suburban, and rural sections. This is the first land that has been sold in the Manawatu district, and it comprises a portion of the blocks purchased two years since, and adjoining the block that is to be purchased on the sth of December next The sale realised LIO,OOO, and the unsold, sections being open for sale at any time, other purchasers are coining, forward daily. A. Mr. Dalrymple, from .Otago, bought 800 acres, which cost Mm ten- or twelve hundred pounds ; but I see a special. " local" is given to him in one of our papers, on the supposition that he purchased to the extent of LIO,OOO. Bishop Monrad was also a purchaser of some sections, on which lie was authorised to squat several months ago, and which he has meanwhile brought under English grass. — Correspondent of "Otago Daily Times."
