On Thursday, Mr Bright asked if the presentment of the Grand Jury at phe last sittings of the Supreme Qourt at Hokitika had been attended to. The Provincial Solicitor, in reply, said that he ' hoped that by the next Session ample accommodation would be provided. In answer to Mr JJarff, the Provincial Solicitor said that a Commission would I be appointed to revise the Gyldnelds regulations. The reply to the Superintendent's address was carried without amendment,' Mr Pright, however, urging that the Session should not be brought to a close without the affairs of West-land being duly considered. On Friday Mr Johnstone's motion to thrown open the lands of Y/estland for sale, was met by an amendment, moved by Mr Whall, that a Commission be appointed on the subject. Both vrere { ultimately withdrawn, as the members of the Government stated that they had provided a bill on the subject. Mr Hall [ threatened, if both were not withdrawn, ! to move the previous question and divide j | the Hku.sc. Mr BurlF spoke strongly | against tho motion, and pointed out the j difficulties that would arise.' Mr BanT moved the first reading of the \Vestlaud Ferries Ordinance, which was carried, and the Bill ordered to be printed.
