Hanson, it being deci%d againßt me, the Magistiate, Mr "Rey,Sl, chose to deliver the following remarks with reference to my character : — "That he placed little confidence in my evidence, and that I acted the part of a scoundrel," Now, sir, in the name of all that is just and right, is my character to be stained in this way in public, and by a Magistrate }n his Court. lam a miner, and, thank God, a successful one, but still I can inform his Worship that my character is equally of as much value to me aa his is to him, and could stand quite as hard a test, I am, &c.
