THE PROPOSED NEW POSTAL RATES.

The following new rates of postage heave been adopted by the Assembly, by a majority of only one A'ote : — LETTERS. I. — Town Letters. Posted at any Post Office within the colony for delivery at or from such Post Office : — Not exceeding half-.an-ounce One Penny, Exceeding half -an-ounce but not exceeding one ounce.. Twopence. For every ounce or fraction of an ounce over one ounce ... TAVopence. 11,— -Country Letters. Posted at any Post Office within the colony for delivery at or from any other Post Office withintnesame Province : — Net exceeding lialf?an-0.unce,.... Twopence. Exceeding half-an-ounce but not exceeding one ounce , Fourpence. For every ounce or fraction of an ounce over one ounce.... -Fourpence. 111. — Interprovincial Letters. Posted at any Post Office within the colony for delivery at or from any Post Office iv any other province Avithin the : colony: — Not exceeding half tan-ounce..,.. Threepence. Encaeding half -announce but not exceeding one ounce Sixpence. For every ounce or fraction of an ounce over one ounce Sixpence. NEWSPAPERS, On all neAvspapers posted within the colony for transmission via Panama or Marseilles.., Threepence.
