Ascot was lucky in having fine weather, and the attendance was greater than ever. The re-appearance of Gladiateur deterred -many from competing for the cup. and the gallant Frenchman, after beiug 200 yards behind the other two startei*, when "set going/ cantered in by himself, a winner by any number of lengths. The Goodwood Cup seems equally at his mercy. ■
