Office : At Cussius and.Gomiskey's Store, , ' Greymouth. The object of the Company is the construction of a large water race, capable of supplying Avater for sluicing purposes at a sufficient altitude to command the whole range of auriferous terraces and gullies in the 'Arnold and adjacent districts. It has been proved beyoiid.question that these terraces and; gullies are not only very extensive, but. also exceedingly rich, but the "want of .'water has hitherto prevented their development. In all cases where water has been available A ; ery profit? able, results have accrued to the owners of the few small races that have- been enabled to obtain a supply; It has been found, hoAvever, that the local streams are quite insufficient for tlie' requirements of the district, and. that the supply must be* obtained from a "distant source.""The present Company Avas originated for the purpose of endeavoring to discover an abundant. -Supply of water from such an altitude as would make it aA'ailable for the .most .elevated terraces in the district, in the conviction that should these conditions be fulfilled, .immense adA-antages wonld. accrue to the mining community, and that the undertaking AA'ould prove exceedingly profitable. The district of Lake Brumier suggested itself as the most likely source of supply, and accordingly. W. J. Bull, Esq., Surveyor, and Mr Job Savage, the . Company's Manager, made a thorough examination"' of the Lake and its neighborhood. They succeeded in finding an unfailing supply of Avater* in the Hohonu River, Avhich can be brought in at an elevation sufficient to command thcAvhole of the gold fields lying betAA'een Lake Brunuer and the Arnold .on the. one hand, and the Greenstone on the other. In the great and profitable results of the Company's undertaking the promoters have the' utmost confidence, and their opinion is supported by that of the miners and storekeepers in the . district, Avho v have most liberally assisted in carrying out the preliminary arrangements of the Company. It is proposed to construct the race of such a capacity asto supply from 30to 40 sluice of Avater, the length of the race, being about 20 miles. The construction of the race avill be immediately commenced, and it is expected to be completed in .about four months. The advantages offered by this Company may be summed up as folloAvs : — 1. The unfailing supply of a large quantity pf water to an extensive area^of auriferous ground, and the consequent increase of mining prosperity. 2. Ecouomical management, and large profits, the' former "being estimated to cost not exceeding £30 per Aveek, and the latter to .produce .fully 100 per cent per annum on the capital. . _ 3. Valuable Water Right, which being the first right from a,n unfailing source no question of -protection, &c, can affect it. The promoters bind themselves not to offer any of itheiroAvn shares till.ithe remainder are disposed of at not under par, thus preventing any depreciation of the stock by them. ■ •The Company reserves to itself the option of taking up ground and working it for the benefit of the shareholders. •••" Application. f,or. shar.es can be made in the annexed form to Messrs Maclean, Fisher and Co., Greymouth, KB.
