Tub Grey River Argus Office,

Monday evening. The total amount of revenue received at the Custom-house, Greymouth, on Saturdajf, on goods cleared for home consumption was £133 2s Id, making for the week- £528 Is Id. The amount received to-day was £142 6s Bd. Our dates from Dunedin aro to the 19bh inst. We take the following commercial intelligence from the Daily Times' monthly summary, publishod on the 18th inst. : — In most respects the business of the month has partaken of the character of that of the preceding month, s and though not without an appearance of activity, has been limited in amount. In the import markets operations have been more numerous than large. Stocks of most of the leading articles of consumption being still too circumscribed, and prices in general too high, to allow of transactions assuming nrach of a speculative character, or extending very far beyond current requirements. Although there are not wanting indications that our markets -will-' again be better supplied with British merchandise ; and though the arrivals which should have have taken place this month,. [ would have put us in possession of rather !■ heavier shipments than those of several previous months, yet, owing to the circumstance of Bhips from Great Britain making unusually protracted passages, the amount of goods actually to hand has been very small, and much inconvenience has been experienced in consequence of the non-arrival of parcels placed in anticipation of speedy delivery. Credit has been well sustained, and an unimpaired feeling of confidence exists in all branches of commerce. The mining interest continues prosperous, and satisfactory results aro attending the prosecution of the associated enterprises, now the chief means of the continued development of the. auriferous resouces. of the colony. In the money market no change has been experienced, rates of discount remaining as before, and exchanges closing— On London, 3 days' sight, 2 per cent prem ; 30 days' sight, 14 percent prcm ; 60. days' sight, 1 per cent prenv " '■ '
