Fox, Maori Gully^ Cassius and Comisky, Hokifcika, Office : At Cassius and Comisky's Store, Greym.quth. The object of the Company is the con^ struction of a large water race, capable of supplying water for. sluicing purposes at a siifficient altitude to command the whole range of auriferous terraces and gullies in the Arnold and adjacent districts. It has been proved beyond question that these terraces and gullies, are not; finly" very extensive, but also exceedingly rich, but the want of water has hitherto prevented their development. In all cases where water has been available very profitable results have accrued to the oAvners of the few small races that have- been enabled to obtain a supply. It has been found, however, that the local streams are quite insufficient for the requirements pf the district, and that the supply must be obtained, from a distant source. ? The present Company was originated for the purpose of .endeavoring to discover a.n abundant supply of Avater from such an - altitude asAVould make it available for the most elevated terraces in the district, in the conviction that should;.. these conditions be fulfilled, immense advantages Avould accrue to the mining community, and that the undertaking Avould prove exceedingly profitable. The district of Lake Brunner suggested itself as the most likely source of supply, and accordingly W. J. Bull, Esq., Surveyor, and Mr Job SaA r age, the Company's Manager, made a thorough examination of the Lake and its neighborhood. They succeeded in finding an unfailing supply of water in the Hohonu River, which can be brought in at an elevation sufficient to command the whole of the gold fields lying betAveen Lake Brunner and the Arnold on the one hanc\, and. the Greenstone on the other.. In the great and profitable results of the Company's undertaking the prompters have the utmost confidence, -and their opinion is supported by that of the miners aiid storekeepers in the district, who have most, liberally assisted in carrying . out the . preliminary arrangements of the Company. It is proposed to construct the 'race of sucha capacity as to supply f rora 30 to 40 sluice heads of Avater, the length of the race being abput 20mu|s).Tne 'construction of the rac,e will' be immediately commenced,, and it is expected to be completed in about four months.. • The. advantages offered by this Company may be summed up as follows : — 1. The unfailing supply of a large quantity of water to an extensive area of auriferous, ground, and the consequent increase, of, mining prosperity. ■ 2. Economical management, and large profits, the . former being estimated to cost not exceeding £30 per Aveek, and the latter to produce fully 100 per cent per annum on the capital. 3. Valuable Water Right, which being the first right from an unfailing- source no question of protection, &c. , can affect it. The promoters bind themselves not to offerany of their oavii shares till the remainder are disposed- of at not under par, thus preventing any depreciation of the stoqk by them. The Company reserves to itself the option of taking up ground and working it for the benefit of the shareholders.Application for shares can be made in the annexed form to Messrs Maclean, Fisher and Co., Greymouth, .
